AKCS vs MyGate — an honest comparison

AKCS matches MyGate across gate, helpdesk, amenities, accounting, utilities and admin — then adds AI on your existing CCTV, an MCP server, Siri approvals, published pricing and no ads.

Compare For evaluator

What is the short answer?

On the day-to-day running of a society, the two products do the same job. Gate passes, deliveries, domestic staff, complaints with SLA escalation, amenity booking, a real accounting ledger, utility meters, vendor payments, polls and notices, role-based admin — AKCS ships all of it. A committee switching from MyGate does not give up a category of function; the parity table below is the honest version of that claim.

Where the two genuinely diverge is at the edges. MyGate is far larger and has more finance features, notably statutory filing. AKCS runs AI on the CCTV you already own, exposes an MCP server with 70 tools so your community is addressable by an AI client at all, approves visitors by Siri, publishes its price, and does not sell advertising inside the app your residents use to approve visitors.

If deployment scale is your deciding factor, that is MyGate's argument and it is a fair one. If the question is what the software actually does once it is installed, keep reading.

We sell AKCS, so read this with that in mind. Every claim about MyGate below comes from MyGate's own public pages, checked on 28 August 2026, and we have said plainly where they are ahead.

Do you have everything the big platforms have?

Broadly, yes. The question committees actually ask is "will we lose something by switching", so here is the whole functional surface, in the same categories the incumbents organise their own feature lists around.

Category What AKCS runs
Visitor & security Self check-in QR, resident QR, pre-approvals with controlled validity, delivery passes, cab pre-approval, 28 domestic-staff service types, kids checkout, Safe Pickup Mode, entry restriction for defaulter flats, face match at the gate, digital gate register, call logs
Helpdesk & staff Dedicated security-personnel app, 25 complaint categories, criticality levels, category routing, auto-assignment config, SLA with a multi-level escalation matrix, comments and attachments both ways
Staff management Worker records, shifts, attendance and attendance logs, per-flat favourites, booking days, no-slot-today handling
Amenities Per-amenity rules and operating windows, slot booking, group bookings, approval or payment-first flows, scheduled updates, auto-cancel on missed payment, defaulter restriction, utilisation reporting
Accounting & dues Real double-entry GL, chart of accounts, vouchers, fiscal-period locking (audit lock by financial year), budgets, per-flat unit accounts, invoice templates and preview, automated penalties, area- and amount-wise defaulter limits
Payments & reconciliation Razorpay / Cashfree / Easebuzz, payment links, receipts, partial payments, offline cash-cheque-transfer capture, vendor bills, vendor accounts, vendor payments with allocation, finance audit log
Utilities Utility meters, common-area meters, meter readings, consumption tracking, utility email drafts and logs
Communication & notices Announcements with categories, comments and read receipts, polls with vote history and per-option results, document library, six languages, per-resident notification language, custom alert sounds, Agora voice and video intercom
Admin control & compliance Roles, role categories, role hierarchies and granular role permissions, finance audit log, parking audit log, inventory audits
Inventory Items, categories, stock transactions, bookings, and periodic audits — a module most society platforms do not ship at all
Parking Zones, slots, live sessions, violations, temporary passes, policy engine, audit log, EV charging sessions and EV-capable slots
Platform approach Community-first. No advertising, no brokerage funnel, no rental or property-sales ecosystem attached to your residents

That is 172 data models and 134 API resources behind it. If a feature matters to your committee and it is not listed, ask — the answer is more often "yes, here is the screen" than "on the roadmap".

What AKCS actually runs today

Comparison pages usually argue about positioning. Here is the feature surface instead, taken from the product rather than from a brochure. Every row below is something you can ask us to demonstrate on a call.

At the gate

Capability What it does
QR gate pass + OTP Pass id PASS-XXXXXXXX, QR carries a JWT plus a 6-digit OTP by SMS. Single-use.
Pre-approval window Opens 8 hours before expected arrival; closes at arrival + 2/4/8/custom hours (default 8)
Deliveries 24-hour QR; 48-hour collection code stripped from the guard's screen so a parcel can only reach the flat
Cab pre-approval Matched on the last 4 characters of the plate. Safe Pickup Mode shows tower/block, never the flat number
Domestic staff 28 service types; whole-day pass for the booked date, because help does not arrive to a schedule
Kids checkout A child leaving the gate is a distinct, tracked event
House rules (Dwarpal) Deterministic auto-approve engine — off / shadow / live, up to 25 rules per flat, 90-second escalation. No model in the decision path
Face match Per community: off (default) / advisory / strict, 0.75 threshold, overridable on outage so a failure never seals the gate
Defaulter flag Shows "dues pending" to the guard — a flag, not an entry block

Money

Capability What it does
Double-entry ledger Real GL: chart of accounts, vouchers, fiscal periods with locking, budgets, per-flat unit accounts
Reports Trial balance, balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, AR aging 0–30/31–60/61–90/90+, budget-vs-actual, unit statements
Invoicing 6 invoice types, INV-{year}-{00001} numbering, 8 statuses, partial payments
Automation Reminders daily 07:30 at T-3 / due day / T+3 / T+7. Late fees daily 08:00, only if enabled
Gateways Razorpay, Cashfree or Easebuzz — UPI, card, netbanking, wallet, EMI, plus cash, cheque and bank transfer recorded offline

Parking and EV

Capability What it does
Zones and slots Slot size, allocation policy, live status, visitor-parking rules per zone
Sessions and violations Parked sessions tracked, violations recorded, full audit log
EV charging Charging sessions tracked; slots flagged as EV-capable
Temporary passes Short-term parking passes for guests and contractors
Views Occupancy and dashboard for the committee, separate resident and security views

Living in the app

Capability What it does
Six languages English, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam — app and push
Per-resident language Notifications go out in each resident's stored language, not one community setting
Voice complaints Speak a complaint in your own language; the English translation is stored alongside for the maintenance team
AI assistant Ask questions by voice or text in English, Hindi or Telugu; it answers in the language you asked
Notification sounds Custom alert sounds with a separate high-importance channel, so a gate approval is not buried with the rest
Intercom Agora VoIP voice and video — guard to resident, resident to resident, works from abroad
Complaints 25 categories, criticality low / medium / high / emergency, tracked to closure
Amenities Full lifecycle — pending, approved or awaiting payment, confirmed, completed; group bookings; auto-cancel on missed payment deadline

AI, and the part nobody else has

Capability What it does
MCP server A Model Context Protocol endpoint exposing 70 tools across 11 domains — visitors, parking, finance, complaints, amenities, workers, maintenance and more. Your community is addressable by an AI client, not just by our app
Assistant, both sides Runs in the resident app and the admin portal. Ask in plain English, Hindi or Telugu; it answers from live community data
Siri gate approvals "Approve the visitor with AKCS" — approve or reject a gate request by voice, hands full, phone in pocket. iOS 16+
Voice complaints Speak a complaint in your own language; the English translation is stored alongside for the maintenance team
Writes need a human The model proposes, you get an approval card showing the exact arguments, and nothing runs until you accept. The token is signed, bound to you, and expires in 15 minutes
Grounded by force The first turn of every exchange must call a tool, so an answer cannot be invented
Injection-proof by design Complaint text and visitor names reach the model as *data*, never instructions — and since writes need approval anyway, injected text has no path to a mutation. There is a live test that plants "IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS" in a complaint and asserts nothing is written
Auditable Every tool call records the arguments, the result, who approved it and how long it took
Killable One setting strips all 15 mutating tools and makes the assistant strictly read-only
Where it runs AWS Bedrock in ap-south-1 — Mumbai, not overseas

Ask any other vendor in this market for their MCP endpoint. That is the whole pitch.

How we sell it

AKCS
Advertising in the app None. We do not sell ads and we do not monetise resident data
Cross-selling No brokerage, rental or property-sales funnel attached to your society's data
Pricing Published: free during launch, then ₹29 or ₹49 per flat per month
Exit CSV export plus the originals of every uploaded file. No exit fee
Tenancy Each community isolated in its own tenant

Where we are genuinely short

We would rather you find these here than in month three. AKCS has no bank reconciliation, no fixed-deposit tracking, no purchase orders or requisition workflow, and no GST return filing (GSTR-1/3B). The ledger is real and the reports are real, but statutory filing happens outside the platform. There is also no per-role CCTV permission model and no retention policy for detection events — footage lives on your recorder under your control.

If your treasurer needs statutory filing inside the software, weigh that seriously.

Where MyGate is genuinely ahead

Scale. MyGate publishes 27,000+ communities, 5 million+ homes, 100,000+ RWAs and 50+ cities. AKCS runs in seven communities across four cities — Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Amaravathi and Chennai — with roughly 2,000 residents on the platform. If a long deployment record is your deciding factor, that is a real argument and it is theirs.

Statutory finance. MyGate's own FAQ covers GST and TDS compliance for housing societies. AKCS does not generate GST returns — no GSTR-1, no GSTR-3B — and does not do bank reconciliation, fixed-deposit tracking or purchase orders. Our accounting is a real double-entry general ledger with a chart of accounts, vouchers, fiscal-period locking and the standard reports, but if your auditor needs GST filing inside the platform, we do not have it today.

Door hardware. MyGate sells smart locks. AKCS does not make door hardware.

Where AKCS is ahead

AI on your existing cameras. This is the real difference. AKCS Vision runs on any RTSP IP camera you already own, with processing on hardware inside your property, and raises alerts for ten detection types — intrusion, fire, smoke, falls, violence, loitering, odd-hour movement, head-count limits, crowd surges and abandoned objects. It also reads number plates at the gate. As of this date, MyGate's public site markets a society ERP, a resident app and smart locks; we could not find an AI video analytics product.

Footage stays on your premises. Because inference runs on the on-site box, video is never uploaded. There is no per-GB cloud video bill and no third party holding your recordings.

No advertising. Covered in full below, because it deserves its own section.

Languages at the gate. The AKCS apps and push notifications run in English, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam, and notifications are sent in each resident's stored language. This matters most for the security personnel using the gate app, who are often least served by an English-only interface.

The advertising difference

MyGate operates the Mygate Ad Platform, which it markets to brands as a way to reach residents. Its own page describes more than 2,000 brands using it and names the ad formats it sells:

MyGate ad format Where it appears, per MyGate's description
Feed card A video or banner in the community's social feed
Notice Pulse Push alerts to residents
Approval Cards The full screen, after a resident approves a guest, parcel or cab
Masthead The app home screen

The third row is the one to sit with. The moment a resident approves a visitor at their gate is a security action. On MyGate that moment is also inventory that can be sold to an advertiser.

AKCS does not sell advertising, does not have an ad platform, and does not monetise resident attention. Our revenue is the per-flat subscription and the per-camera Vision fee. That is the whole business model.

To be fair about the market: this is not a stand unique to us. ADDA has been explicitly ad-free since 2009 and argues the same case. If ad-free is your priority, ADDA is a legitimate option and we would rather you knew that from us than found it out later.

Price

AKCS MyGate
Published price per flat Free during launch, then ₹29 or ₹49 Not published — quoted on enquiry
AI video Per camera, quoted after a free hardware audit No comparable product found
Exit terms CSV export plus original files, no exit fee Not published

We publish our prices because a committee should be able to budget without sitting through a sales call. Where a competitor does not publish, we have said so rather than guessed.

Which should you choose?

Choose MyGate if your committee weighs deployment scale above everything, or you need GST and TDS filing inside the platform, or you want smart locks from the same vendor.

Choose AKCS if you have CCTV that currently does nothing but record, and you want it watched in real time without replacing cameras or shipping footage to a cloud — or if you do not want your residents' gate-approval screen sold to advertisers.

Consider ADDA if ad-free and privacy are your deciding factors and video is not.

What to verify yourself

Do not take a vendor's comparison page at face value, including this one. Ask all three of us the same questions, and write down the answers:

  1. Do you sell advertising or sponsored placements inside the resident app? Which screens?
  2. Where is our video processed, and who can access it?
  3. What is the price per flat per month, in writing, after any launch discount ends?
  4. What does leaving cost, and in what format does our data come back?
  5. Which statutory filings does the platform actually generate?

The full version of that list is in 12 questions to ask any society management vendor.

If you want the AKCS answers with your own flat count and camera count attached, book a demo or see what it costs.
